The Balance of Beauty Green Packaging and Environmental Protection

On December 15, 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, and seven other departments jointly released an implementation plan for promoting green packaging. By the end of 2025, a comprehensive green packaging standard system will be established, the use of toxic and harmful express packaging will be prohibited, and green, energy-saving, and environmentally friendly packaging design will be fully implemented to prevent excessive packaging.

In addition to the corresponding policies issued by the state, people are also increasingly inclined towards environmental protection in their daily lives. How to balance aesthetic appeal and environmental protection requirements will become a major challenge for the packaging industry.

Firstly, in terms of bottle materials, in addition to acrylic and glass which can enhance the product’s texture, we will also continuously explore the application of recyclable materials such as PP, PE, and ABS.

PP and PE are also commonly used materials in the packaging industry, featuring recyclability and good ductility. Discarded bottles and cans can be recycled and reprocessed into new products, suitable for various usage needs such as bottles, cans, and tubes. The bottle bodies can be combined with various coloring and spraying processes, as well as different materials and processes of accessories, to meet customers’ customized demands and showcase product features and design concepts.

Secondly, in terms of product structure design, excessive packaging can be avoided by replacing inner cores and other methods, which can save costs and time for manufacturers and also reduce costs for consumers. For example, cream jars can be designed with replaceable inner cores, and eyeshadow palettes can be designed with customizable compartments, allowing users to combine colors and textures according to their needs. Such interactive designs can also increase product personalization and better meet users’ actual needs.

Environmental protection is an eternal topic, and so is beauty. How to strike a balance between the two still requires further exploration.
